IT service departments typically use networked antivirus protection that includes port blocking. Certain versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection Antivirus (SEP) might cause a disruption in communication between the MS instrument and the data system computer when the “Network and Host Exploit Mitigation” feature is turned on.

To avoid this potential issue, Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends doing one of the following:

• Use a version of SEP that does not have the “Network and Host Exploit Mitigation” feature.
• Work with your IT department to ensure that SEP does not block the communication between the data system and the instrument.
