Quantitation enhanced data-dependent (QED) is a real-time method that triggers a confirmational MS/MS scan near the chromatographic peak apex, which provides rich and high quality product ion spectra for compound confirmation with simultaneous quantitation.

When using QED, a full scan MS/MS mass spectrum is obtained by data-dependent scanning for confirmatory analysis during the SRM experiment that is used for routine quantitation. When a particular SRM transition reaches a user-set intensity threshold, the instrument automatically triggers QED, using an innovative technique called Reversed Energy Ramp (RER), which produces the high sensitivity product ion spectrum. The RER scan generates a highly sensitive, fragment-rich MS/MS spectrum that can be used to positively confirm the identity of a compound by comparing the product ion spectra against a spectral library.
