You can use the data acquisition software to automatically inject samples from an autosampler. In a typical LC/MS experiment, solvent flow goes through an LC column to separate the compounds of a mixture before directing them into the API source, either H-ESI or APCI.
To set up injections from an LC system with an autosampler
Procedure
- Use red PEEK tubing and a Rheodyne fitting to connect port 5 of the divert/inject valve to one of the following:
- The outlet of an autosampler (not shown)
- The outlet of a liquid chromatography column that is attached to an autosampler (not shown)
- Use a Rheodyne fitting to connect one end of the Teflon or PEEK tubing to port 4. Place the other end of the tubing in a waste container (not shown).
- Connect red PEEK tubing to port 6 and the other end to the API source.
