This procedure applies to the TSQ Fortis Plus and TSQ Fortis MS's only.

Preconditions

The MS is vented and cooled to room temperature.

Required tools

  • 2 mm Allen wrench
  • L0 lens removal tool
  • Small flat-head screwdriver

Procedure

  1. Wearing clean, lint-free and powder-free gloves, remove the source interface cage from the MS.

  3. Remove the two Allen screws that secure the MP00 assembly to the cage using a 2 mm Allen wrench.

  5. Pull the MP00 assembly off of the cage and place it on a clean and lint-free surface.

  7. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to detach the skimmer from the cage. Then lift the skimmer evenly from both sides to prevent bending the voltage contact pin and remove it from the cage.
  8. CAUTION

    Use extra care when removing the skimmer from the cage because the voltage contact pin can easily bend.

  11. Remove the tube lens by pushing it out of the cage.
  12. NOTE

    It can take quite a bit of force to push out the tube lens the first few times you remove it.

  14. To remove the L0 lens from the MP00 assembly, use the L0 lens removal tool or plastic tweezers. Rotate the lens by a quarter turn to release it from the two tabs.

  16. Push the MP00 multipole out of the mounting cage.
