You can check the current pressure values in the ion transfer tube-RF lens, and the foreline region (labeled Source Pressure), and in the analyzer region (labeled Analyzer Pressure) in the Status pane of the Tune window.
CAUTION
For proper performance, operate the system at the proper vacuum levels. Poor vacuum levels can cause reduced sensitivity and reduced electron multiplier life.
Procedure
- Open the Tune window.
- Select the Status tab and select Expand
next to Vacuum.
- Compare the current values of the pressures in the vacuum manifold with the values listed in the following tables.
- After powering up the system, monitor the vacuum readings and confirm they are decreasing with time. Wait until the readings are within typical pressure ranges for your MS. If the pressure remains high, contact your Thermo Fisher Scientific representative for assistance.
- If the values are higher than normal, you might have an air leak.
