The basic components of a mass spectrometer are the ion source, the mass analyzer, and the ion detector. The following figure shows a schematic of the TSQ Altis Plus MS.
No. | Description | No. | Description |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Q2 mass analyzer or active collision cell with axial DC field (Q2 quadrupole can behave as an ion transmission device or a collision cell with axial DC field) | 6 | RF lens, electrodynamic ion funnel (EDIF) for the TSQ Altis Plus MS and TSQ Altis MS |
2 | Q3 mass analyzer (segmented quadrupoles with a hyperbolic surface) | 7 | MP00 assembly (MP00 cage, MP00 multipole, exit lens, and L0 lens) |
3 | Dual-mode electron multiplier detector | 8 | Ion beam guide with neutrals blocker |
4 | Sweep cone | 9 | Q1 mass analyzer (segmented quadrupoles with a hyperbolic surface) |
5 | Ion transfer tube |
