The following figure shows the manual loop injection plumbing using the optional divert/inject valve with an APCI configuration.
No. | Description | No. | Description |
---|---|---|---|
1 | To waste | 4 | To APCI spray insert sample inlet |
2 | Needle injection port | 5 | From divert/inject valve (port 6) |
3 | Loop | 6 | From LC pump |
NOTE
The metal grounding union is not required in the plumbing path of an APCI configuration.
Required Materials
- Divert/inject valve (not provided)
Procedure
- Connect a sample loop to the divert/inject valve (ports 1 and 4).
- Connect a loop filler (needle port) to the divert/inject valve (port 2).
- Connect Teflon tubing to the divert/inject valve (port 3) using a Rheodyne fitting. Then, connect the remaining end into an appropriate waste container.
- Connect red PEEK tubing from the LC pump’s outlet to the divert/inject valve (port 5) using a one-piece fingertight fitting.
- Connect red PEEK tubing using a one-piece fingertight fitting to the divert/ inject valve (port 6). Then, connect the remaining end to the APCI spray insert’s sample inlet using a two-piece fingertight fitting.
- Load a clean syringe with the sample solution and carefully insert it into the needle port.
NOTE
To perform a manual loop injection, slowly press the syringe plunger.
