The MS contains an Auto-Ready™ ion source that is used exclusively to calibrate the instrument. The Auto-Ready components are located behind the small access door on the instrument front panel and include the following:
- Auto-Ready pump
- Calibration solution vial and vial receptacle
- Flow sensor and flow sprayer
NOTE
The instrument ships with an empty calibration solution vial in the Auto-Ready vial receptacle. Replace the empty vial with a new prefilled (unopened) FlexMix vial before you calibrate the instrument using Auto-Ready. See Replace the Auto-Ready Calibration Solution Vial.
The following figure shows the Auto-Ready enclosure.
No. | Description | No. | Description |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Nitrogen gas feed line | 4 | Plunger assembly plate |
2 | Flow sensor attached to holding bracket | 5 | Vial locking lever in the locked position |
3 | PEEK fittings | 6 | Seated calibration solution vial |
The components come preassembled at the factory and are inspected by the Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineer during the installation. The following items are inspected:
- The gas fitting on the right-side of the pump manifold, which inputs pressurized nitrogen to the pump during operation.
- The gas fittings on the center of pump manifold and the plunger assembly, which transmit regulated nitrogen from the manifold to the calibration solution vial.
- The gas fitting on the left-side of the pump manifold, which provides a bleed path for gas out of the manifold.
- The fitting on the top of the plunger, which seals the PEEK tubing where the calibration solution exits the vial.
- The fitting on the bottom-side of the flow sensor, which transmits liquid from the vial to the sensor.
- The fitting on the top-side of the flow sensor, which transmits liquid from the sensor to the flow sprayer.
- The flow sprayer, which needs to be locked in the proper position on the right side of the vacuum manifold.
