The Calibration pane contains a Calibration area where you can check and calibrate the MS. The Tune application automatically enforces dependencies between certain instrument calibrations, ensuring that each aspect of instrument performance is checked, calibrated, or both only after its dependencies have been checked, calibrated, or both. If any particular item fails its check, then any items that depend on that failed calibration are skipped.

The following table provides details on the parameters that are used to check and calibrate your instrument.

Item

Description

Mode

Specifies the calibration mode. The options for this parameter are as follows:

  • Check, Calibrate if required: This option completes a check of all system calibration items, calibrates any item that requires it, and then reports back the status. Changes to the system are made only when necessary when you run this option.
  • Calibrate: This option performs a full calibration of all items on your system. Changes are made to any and all items that require calibration. The system then reports back the status.

Polarity

Specifies the ion polarity mode (positive or negative).
