The ion transfer tube is a metal, cylindrical tube that helps desolvate ions produced by the API spray insert and transfer them into the vacuum manifold. It is a high-capacity transfer tube (HCTT), which is a short tube with a stadium-shaped orifice, and is secured to the API source interface by a quarter-turn pin behind the nose cone. The internal bore has a non-circular cross section, and the nose cone has L etched on the front face. This etched letter indicates the HCTT type.

NOTE

A custom tool is used to install and remove the ion transfer tube.
