Follow these guidelines when you make the plumbing connections using PEEK tubing:
- Verify that the PEEK tubing is not crimped, kinked, or otherwise damaged.
- Make square cuts on the ends of the PEEK tubing. Poorly cut tubing can cause flow restrictions.
NOTE
For best results, use a polymeric tubing cutter to ensure proper square cuts.
- Properly seat the PEEK tubing into the LC union’s coned-bottom receiving port. Tubing that is not properly seated can add dead-volume to a chromatographic system.
- Fingertighten the PEEK fittings only, do not use tools. Overtightening the fittings can cause leaks.
The following figure shows the PEEK tubing and fitting properly connected to an LC union.
No. | Description | No. | Description |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Fingertight PEEK fitting | 3 | LC union |
2 | Red PEEK tubing (properly seated, square-cut end) |
