Place the MS in Standby mode if you are not using it temporarily or for short periods of time.

Prerequisites

Turn off liquid flow from the LC (or other sample introduction device), as applicable.

Procedure

In the Tune application, select System Standby .
The icon changes from white to green and the System LED on the front panel of the MS turns yellow.

NOTE

To keep the API source clean, the MS reduces the sheath gas (2 arbitrary units) and auxiliary gas (2 arbitrary units) to their standby default values. The MS turns off the electron multiplier, conversion dynodes, 8 kV power to the API source, main RF voltage, and ion optic RF voltages.
