Categorical study factors are used for general sample names. Categorical study factors sort alphanumerically.
Procedure
- In the Study Factors area of the Study Definition page, select Add > Categorical Factor.
- The categorical factor dialog box opens, and its title bar includes the default name of [new factor].
- Select [new factor] and enter a name for the new categorical factor.
- In this example, the name used is Yeast Strain.
NOTE
If the full categorical box collapses, select Edit to restore it to its original size.
- In the box to the left of the Add and Delete buttons, enter the name of the first value, and then select Add.
- In this example, the value is Met6.
- In the same box, enter the name of the second value, and then select Add.
- In this example, the second value is His4.
- Repeat for each value.
- Select Apply.
- Confirm that the Study Definition page resembles the following image.
- (Optional) Repeat the steps above to add more factors.
