Open a web browser to access the Mascot server through its URL. If you cannot, the Mascot server might not be running or the URL might be incorrect. In this case, contact your system administrator to assist you.

Procedure

  1. From the application menu bar, select Tools > Mascot Communication Tester.
  2. The Mascot Communication Tester window opens. The application automatically populates the fields of the window, including the URL in the Mascot Server URL box.
  3. If the URL does not automatically appear or if you want to enter it manually, enter the URL of the Mascot server in the Mascot Server URL box.
  4. NOTE

This is the same URL that you entered in the Mascot Server URL box in the Configuration view of the Proteome Discoverer application.

  5. If the web server that hosts the Mascot server enables any user authentication, provide a user name and a password for this authentication in the corresponding boxes in the Mascot Communication Tester window.
  6. Select Test Communication.
  7. An automated communication test starts. The upper pane displays the progress of the communication test. The lower pane provides information on the communication test, such as details on failed tests to help you diagnose connection failures.
  8. Select the links shown in the lower pane to test whether the communication works from within a web browser.
  9. If you cannot resolve the problem with this information, select Copy Info to copy the log information into an email, and then send it to Thermo Fisher Scientific Customer Service (see Contact us).
