You can specify how many processing workflows and consensus workflows that the application can execute at the same time. To prevent overloading your computer, consider the number of logical cores on your computer and run less than half that number for each type of workflow. For example, if your computer has four logical cores, you can run two or fewer processing workflows in parallel.
NOTE
Workflows share resources other than processors, such as hard disks or network connections. Running too many jobs in parallel might cause the Proteome Discoverer application, other applications, or the operating system to become unresponsive.
Procedure
- From the application menu bar, select Administration > Configuration.
- In the Configuration area in the lower left corner of the Proteome Discoverer window, select the + symbol to the left of Server Settings.
- Select Parallel Job Execution.
- Do the following:
- In the Max. Number of Processing Workflows in Parallel Execution box, specify the number of processing workflows to execute at the same time.
- In the Max. Number of Consensus Workflows in Parallel Execution box, specify the number of consensus workflows to execute at the same time.
- Select Apply.
- The application confirms your change.
- Save any appropriate files, and then restart the application.
