Activating the license on an offline computer is a three-step process that requires access to an online computer.

  • Create an activation request file (Activation-Activation Code.req) on the offline computer.
  • Transfer the activation request file to an online computer where you upload it to the licensing portal to obtain an activation response file (activation.xml).
  • Transfer the activation response file to the offline computer, and then process it by selecting Process Response File in the License Activation dialog box.

Procedure

  1. From the application menu bar, select Administration > Manage Licenses.
  2. From the License Manager page, select Activate.
  3. The License Activation dialog box opens to the Activation Code view.
  4. Enter the licensing information.
  5. In the License Activation dialog box, select Offline Activation.
  6. The Save Request File dialog box opens.
  7. Select Save to save the activation request file (Activation-Activation Code.req).
  9. The Offline Activation instructions appear, including a URL for you to use to complete the activation on an online computer..
  11. Select OK to close the instructions.
  12. The application automatically saves the URL that was displayed to the Clipboard. The Activation Code view of the License Activation dialog box reappears.
  13. (Optional) Save the copied URL to a file.
  14. Keep the License Activation dialog box open on this offline computer.

  15. NOTE

    If you accidentally close the License Activation dialog box, you must start the procedure over.

  16. To download the activation response file (activation.xml) from the licensing server, do the following on an online computer:
  17. Transfer the activation request file (.req) to the online computer.
  18. Go to the following URL (case sensitive):
  19. https://thermo.flexnetoperations.com/control/thmo/offlineActivation
  20. The Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry Software Download and Licensing Portal opens.
  21. Select Choose File, navigate to the activation request file (Activation Activation Code.req), select Open, and then select Process.
  22. The server downloads the activation file.
  24. Save the activation response file (activation.xml) to the portable drive.
  25. To activate the license on the offline computer, do the following on the offline computer:
  26. Transfer the activation response file (activation.xml) to this computer.
  27. In the License Activation dialog box that you left open, select Process Response File.
  28. The Open Response File dialog box opens.
  29. Locate and select the activation response file (activation.xml), and then select Open.
  30. At the prompt, select OK.
  31. At the next prompt, select OK.

The License Manager indicates that the license for the specified product is permanent.
