You can use the Protein Identification Details view to quickly gauge how good a match is and to obtain information about the protein.
You can also use this view to investigate biologically relevant PTMs. The view gives you information about the position of the modification in the peptide and condenses all the different modifications of different identifications of the peptide to the protein sequence. For each protein, the Protein Identification Details view can display information retrieved from the Annotation Server, which accesses publicly available databases, such as UniProt.
You can compare the found PTMs to the known PTMs in UniProt to reduce the redundancy of the found PTMs, verify the validity of potential modification sites, and help consolidate the PTM site localization scores that might differ on the level of individual PSMs.
