The Temporary Files configuration parameter is intended to accommodate the growing size of experiments, especially those for label-free quantification and precursor ion quantification. The application can require as much free space as the size of the input raw data files and the created result files. For example, input files of 100 GB can require 100 GB of free space. In addition, the application generates many temporary files until it creates the final result.

If the default folder on the C drive does not have enough space, you can change the Temporary Files Configuration parameters to move the location of the storage directory to another drive.

NOTE

You must restart the application after applying the New Directory parameter.

Temporary Files Configuration parameters

Parameter

Definition

Temporary Directory

(Read-only) Displays the location of the current directory in which to store the temporary files generated.

Default location: C:\ProgramData\Thermo\Proteome Discoverer 3.1\Scratch

New Directory

Specifies the location in which to store the temporary files generated by the application during processing.
NOTE: Use a fast, local drive. Ensure that the new directory is accessible and that you have the correct write permissions.

The read performance and write performance is high to avoid slowing down the data processing.
