You can import chemical modifications from a local file or obtain an updated version from unimod.org, a public domain database.

When you install the Proteome Discoverer application, it automatically imports accessions from unimod.org as chemical modifications.

Procedure

  1. To import chemical modifications, follow one of the procedures in the following table.

Procedure

  1. Select Administration > Maintain Chemical Modifications.
  2. The Chemical Modifications view opens.
  3. Select Import.
  4. In the Import From List of the Import Modifications dialog box, select Local File.
  5. In the adjacent box, select the Browse button to locate your file, or type the name and path of the file in the box.
  6. To overwrite an existing upload, select the Overwrite Existing checkbox.
  7. Select Import.
  8. A status message opens.
  9. When the upload is complete, select Close.

Import chemical modifications from unimod.org

Procedure

  1. Select Administration > Maintain Chemical Modifications.
  2. The Chemical Modifications view opens.
  3. Select Import.
  4. The Import Modifications dialog box opens.
  5. In the Import From list, select Unimod.
  6. The UNIMOD URL appears in the adjacent box.
  7. NOTE

    Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends updating chemical modifications every so often.

  8. To overwrite an existing upload, select the Overwrite Existing checkbox.
  9. If the checkbox is cleared, any changes or additions you made are protected. However, if you deleted an amino acid that is defined in Unimod, the amino acid is added back.
  10. Select Import.
  11. A status message opens.
