The following table describes the parameters in the FASTA Indexes view Field Chooser dialog box.

FASTA Indexes View Field Chooser dialog box parameters

Parameters

Description

Enzyme

Specifies the name of the enzyme used to cleave the protein.

Index Size [kB]

Displays the size of the FASTA database index, in kilobytes.

Last Access Time

Displays the last time that the FASTA index was used. For example, it displays the last time that a Sequest HT search used the FASTA index.

Max. # Missed Cleavages

Specifies the maximum number of internal cleavage sites per peptide fragment that is acceptable for the enzyme to miss when cleaving peptides during digestion.

Range: 0–12; default: 2

Max. Mass [Da]

Specifies the maximum mass of the precursor ion to be processed, in daltons.

Range: 0.0–10,000.0 Da; default: 5,000 Da

Min. Mass [Da]

Specifies the minimum mass of the precursor ion to be processed, in daltons.

Range: 0.0–10,000.0 Da; default: 350 Da

Static Modifications

Displays the static modifications set when the FASTA database was generated.

Use Average Precursor Masses

Determines whether the average mass is used to match the precursor ion. The options for this parameter are as follows:

  • True: Uses the average mass to match the precursor ion.
  • False: Uses the monoisotopic mass to match the precursor ion. The monoisotopic mass is the mass of the most abundant isotope of the protein, peptide, or fragment ion.
