The CHIMERYS algorithm is deployed on Amazon Web Services and therefore requires an internet connection. The CHIMERYS node uploads the MS/MS spectra from a raw data file, a FASTA file, and optionally a CHIMERYS inclusion file selected by the user to the cloud. Please note that the raw data files themselves are not uploaded and thus no sample information is transmitted to the cloud. As soon as the CHIMERYS search completes and the Percolator output file is downloaded to the Proteome Discoverer client PC, all data uploaded to the service are deleted.
Use of the CHIMERYS service requires an active account. Upon purchase of either a Proteome Discoverer 3.0 upgrade or full version, Thermo Fisher Scientific will send an e-mail with the CHIMERYS login account name and a temporary password to the end user e-mail address as well as a Proteome Discoverer license key. The user must connect to the CHIMERYS service using the Administration->Configuration settings under the CHIMERYS Identification category. The CHIMERYS Service Login parameter opens a dialog box that accepts the username and password. Once the Proteome Discoverer client connects to the CHIMERYS service, the parameters for the CHIMERYS node become active.
NOTE
The CHIMERYS service automatically logs out after 60 days. You must logout and log back in again during that 60 time period.
Users may check the status of their CHIMERYS account by navigating to the website: portal.chimerys.thermoscientific.com, using same user name and password as described above.
NOTE
If you have an Ardia system hosting the local CHIMERYS service, then the cloud-based CHIMERYS account is not necessary. Instead, you may use the CHIMERYS on Ardia Server node after registering the Ardia server on the Proteome Discoverer PC.
