This section describes how to obtain the FASTA file. However, if you do not have Internet access or notice that the FASTA file has been updated on the UniProt website or in the Downloads folder since the time of publication, you can use the FASTA file included on the application media.

This section describes three different methods for obtaining FASTA files. Over time, the FASTA files provided by the Annotation Server or UniProt are updated. The minor changes in an updated file cause minor changes in the results. The changes are not important in this context. However, if you want to use the exact version of the file used in the exercise, you can use the FASTA file included on the application media.

NOTE

If the FASTA database has been updated and has a later date, your results will vary slightly from those in the guide. This is not cause for concern.
