Use the Charge State filter to remove peaks that fall outside the user-specified charge state range. Alternatively, you can retain peaks whose charge state the mass spectrometer cannot determine.
The following table describes the parameters in the Charge State Properties pane.
Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Include charge state(s) | Using the Charge State filter restricts data-dependent scans to those that fit the specified charge state requirements. Define a single charge state (e.g., 2) or a charge state range (e.g., 2–6) that is used to select precursors for data-dependent scans. Range: 1–1,000; default: 2–6 |
Include undetermined charge states | Select this option to allow triggering on peaks that do not have an assigned charge state. Default: Deselected Causes for the charge state to be undetermined include unresolved isotopic clusters (i.e., intact proteins), overlapping isotopic clusters, and low intensities (e.g., poor ion statistics). Set the default charge state in the Global MS parameters. This default charge state will be used to calculate normalized collision energy and reaction times for peaks with undetermined charge states. This default charge state will also be used to determine the scan range for dependent scans of precursors with undetermined charge state. |
