The Data Dependent Properties pane appears when you select one of the following boxes in the experiment workflow:

  • Cycle Time
  • Number of Scans
  • Scans Per Outcome

When you build an MS Full Scan method, the Cycle Time or Scans Per Outcome becomes unavailable, depending on whether there are multiple scan outcomes and which time or scan box you select. The following table summarizes the data-dependent options as they apply toward single or multiple scan outcomes from an MS scan.

Data Dependent Mode options

Cycle Time

  • Cycle Time: Acquires as many dependent scans as possible within the specified cycle time (Top Speed) before continuing on to the next experiment. This mode is optimal for achieving a regular frequency of master scans.
  • Time between Master Scans (sec): Specify the time in seconds. Range: 0–100,000; default: 3

Number of Scans

  • Number of Scans: Acquires up to the defined number of dependent scans (Top N). Range: 1–1,000; default: 20
  • Scans Per Outcome: Only available with a multiple outcome experiment. Acquires up to the defined number of dependent scans (Top N) per branch in the experiment.
