Prerequisites
- Occasionally, the weight of the lid will not provide an immediate seal. Therefore, leave the top cover off for this stage.
Procedure
- Connect the power cords of the mass spectrometer and the forepump to the wall outlets.
- Put the main power circuit breaker switch of the mass spectrometer in the On position.
- Listen for any excessive hissing noise or pump noise that comes from the analyzer chamber. It should become quiet after a few seconds. If it does not, push gently on each corner of the analyzer lid.
- Now reinstall the top cover.
CAUTION
Pinch Point Hazard
You might crush your fingers when you put your hands around the cover. Grab the handles of the cover with your hands to put it into its place.
- Tighten the two 3 mm hex screws that attach the top cover to the instrument frame. See Remove the quadrupole.
- Put back the items that you have removed from the accessories cabinet. When you close the lid of the cabinet, make sure that it does not catch capillaries and cords.
- After the turbomolecular pumps have completely spun up, the instrument should automatically start a bakeout procedure. If the bakeout has not started after 15 minutes, trigger it manually from the diagnostics section in the Tune software.
