Reverse the steps described in the disassembly section in Remove the bent flatapole. Ideally, purge each ion optic with nitrogen once more before you reinstall it.
Reinstall the front window
Procedure
- Place the window on the bent flatapole, ensuring the correct positioning.
Front window inserted - Align the spring so that it goes over the „lip“ in the center of the front window.
Aligning the spring - Bend the spring so that it goes under the washer.
Bending the spring - Repeat the procedure on the other side.
Install the bent flatapole
Procedure
- Open the lid of the analyzer chamber.
- Put on a new pair of lint- and powder-free gloves.
- Attach the flatapole exit lens to the bent flatapole holder. Pull and turn the two latches towards each other to fit them over the little holder pins on the exit lens. Compare with Remove the bent flatapole.
- Insert the bent flatapole back into the left side of the analyzer chamber, toward the direction of the ion source.
- Attach the retainer with the two 4 mm hex screws.
