As soon as the processing method contains target components and Chromeleon CDS software manages to identify some peaks in the chromatogram, it creates the MS Quantitation channel. In this Channel, each identified component has an extracted chromatogram. These XICs are extracted from the injection data around the retention time of the component and around the mass value (or values) specified for the MS Quantitation Peak of the component.

Base peak channel (BPC) can also be extracted automatically using Intelligent Run Control (IRC), but this must be set up in the processing method prior to running data acquisition. Generating any additional XICs is equivalent to creating new channels in the sequence and requires that new data are saved in injections, not in the processing method.
