TIP
For Intact Mass Analysis experiments, you can create a mass-only or formula-only oligonucleotide sequence.
Mass-only or formula-only sequences are useful when you want the application to identify components (such as impurities) with a known mass or formula in an Intact Mass Analysis experiment.
NOTE
Mass-only and formula-only sequences are supported for Intact Mass Analysis experiments of oligonucleotides only; these sequences must be assigned the "Intact Deconvolution" category in the Oligonucleotide Sequence Editor.
Procedure
- On the BioPharma Finder Home page, in the Experiment Types pane, select the Sequence Manager link.
- The Sequence Manager opens.
- On the right side of the Sequence Manager, select the New Oligonucleotide button.
- The Oligonucleotide Sequence Editor opens.
- On the left side of the Oligonucleotide Sequence Editor, in the Sequence Information pane > Target Oligonucleotide area, enter the following information:
- Name: Type the name of the oligonucleotide sequence.
- Description: (Optional) Type a description for the oligonucleotide sequence.
- Category: Select the "Intact Deconvolution" category from the dropdown menu.
Procedure
- Do either of the following:
- To create a formula-only sequence, enter the chemical formula of the sequence in the Formula box, and then select Apply.
NOTE
For a formula-only oligonucleotide sequence, the maximum number of each element in the chemical formula is 999,999,999.
- The application automatically calculates and displays the Monoisotopic Mass and Average Mass parameters for the sequence from the user-specified formula.
- To create a mass-only sequence, enter the Monoisotopic Mass and Average Mass parameters for the sequence in the respective boxes.
- The Apply button is not available for a mass-only sequence.
- Save the oligonucleotide sequence.
- The application adds the saved sequence to the Sequence Manager table.
IMPORTANT
You cannot assign variable modifications to a mass-only or formula-only oligonucleotide sequence.
