The sequence you select for an experiment establishes the protein, peptide, or oligonucleotide that you want the application to use to match detected components to potential identifications.

The table of sequences displayed on each workflow page corresponds to the sequences added to Sequence Manager. For more information on adding and modifying sequences using the Sequence Manager, see the following topics:

In the Sequence Manager, you must assign the appropriate category to the sequence in order for it to appear in Sequence table on the corresponding analysis page. The following table displays the sequence categories available for each workflow.

For some workflows, selecting a sequence is required while for others, it is optional. The following table displays the sequence dependencies for each workflow, as well as the number of sequences you can apply to each experiment.

If you do not select a sequence for your experiment, the application still performs component detection, but entries in the Results tables have no identification information.

TIP

If you initially process an experiment without applying a sequence, you can identify components later by importing or creating a sequence and then using real-time optimization (RTO) to apply the sequence to your results.

Prerequisites

  1. You are setting up an experiment on the appropriate workflow page.
  2. You have added the associated peptide, protein, or oligonucleotide sequence(s) to the Sequence Manager.

Procedure

  1. In the Sequence area, select the checkbox(es) in the table row for the sequence(s) you want to assign to the experiment.
  2. The application applies the selected sequence(s) to the experiment during processing.
