When you run the BioPharma Finder application, temporary processing files are saved to your local computer. If these files cause disk space issues, you can manually trigger data space optimization via the application Help menu. Alternatively, the application will automatically perform a forced purge if the available disk space reaches a critical threshold. In both instances, temporary processing files are prioritized and then deleted to free up disk space.

IMPORTANT

The BioPharma Finder application does not display warning message before starting a forced purge.

A forced purge proceeds in the background and deletes files from the local cache until the appropriate disk space is available. The application prioritizes files during a forced purge based on file size, usage count (how often is the file being used), reference count (how many experiments use the file), and when the file was last used.

The BioPharma Finder application provides warning messages or performs a forced purge action if the disk space reaches the threshold levels described in the table below.

Disk space thresholds for forced purge actions in BioPharma Finder

Threshold

Description

Storage

Disk space warning

The storage limit at which the application first prompts you optimize disk space

< 25% of total disk space available

Forced start purge

The storage limit at which a forced purge starts

< 10% of total disk space available

Maximum purge limit

The storage limit at which a forced purge stop.

= 40% of total disk space available

Minimum disk space used before starting purge

The storage limit for BioPharma Finder data files at which the application performs a forced purge.

< 20% of total disk space is occupied by application files

If your computer is running low on disk space but the BioPharma Finder application is not the main reason for this issue, the application provides a warning message and closes. You must first free up space by deleting unnecessary files from other applications or by using tune-up options that are available on your local computer. After cleanup is completed, you can start the application and perform data space optimization as needed.
