A restriction in the liquid or gas plumbing can cause excessive system backpressure.

Procedure

  1. (Optional) Check that lint-free paper towels are on hand to dry any liquid leaks (or use a small container to collect liquid leaks).
  2. Begin pumping eluent throughout the system (including the columns).
  3. Follow the flow schematic (see Customer-installable options) to work backward through the system, beginning at the suppressor REGEN OUT port. One at a time, loosen each fitting and observe the pressure. The connection at which the pressure drops significantly indicates the point of restriction.
  4. NOTE

The numbers on the flow schematic indicate the order in which liquid flows through the system components.

  5. In some cases, restrictions may create high pressure blockages that stop operation. If this happens, loosen all connections and work through the flow schematic, adding parts one at a time until a significant pressure increase (and hence, the restriction) is found.
  6. Clear restrictions in tubing or fittings by back flushing or by replacing the tubing or fitting (see Replace tubing and fittings).
