The following parts can be ordered as replacement or spare parts for the Dionex EGC 500 installation.
Part number | Item |
|---|---|
N/A | Eluent Generator Cartridge |
060610 | EGC Vent Line Assembly |
303057 | EGC Vent Line Adaptor, Elbow |
CAUTION
The Dionex EGC 500 contains one of the following: a corrosive base (KOH), a corrosive acid (MSA), or a concentrated K2CO3 solution. Wear protective eyewear and gloves when handling the cartridge.
Procedure
- Remove the new Dionex EGC 500 from the shipping box.
NOTE
Save the Dionex EGC 500 shipping container; it may be required for storage or disposal of the expended or old.
- The black Dionex EGC 500 control cable is attached to a vent plug fitting with a metal chain. Confirm that the vent plug in the vent port is tight. This prevents leakage during installation.
CAUTION
Do not cut the metal safety chain attached to the EGC vent plug. Doing so will void the EGC warranty.
- Orient the Dionex EGC 500 with the fittings facing up and remove the plugs from the INLET and OUTLET ports.
- Set the Dionex EGC 500 in the service area on top of the Dionex Inuvion IC System. Orient the cartridge with the electrical cable toward the Dionex EGC 500 holder.
- Connect the EGC IN line to the INLET port on the Dionex EGC 500.
- Locate the yellow 0.5 mL/min, 1000 psi (7 MPa) backpressure coil (P/N 053765) in the Dionex Inuvion IC System Ship Kit (P/N 064375).
- Connect one end of the backpressure coil to the OUTLET port on the Dionex EGC 500. Leave the other end of the coil disconnected.
NOTE
This backpressure coil connection is temporary; it is used only during the Dionex EGC 500 conditioning procedure.
- Turn the Dionex EGC 500 over so the fittings face down. Shake the cartridge vigorously and tap the side of the reservoir with the palm of your hand 10 to 15 times to dislodge any bubbles trapped in the eluent generation reservoir.
CAUTION
The Dionex EGC 500 contains one of the following: a corrosive base (KOH), a corrosive acid (MSA), or a concentrated K2CO3 solution. Wear protective eyewear and gloves when handling the cartridge.
- Slide the Dionex EGC 500 into the holder until it stops. Ensure the black EGC control cable and backpressure coil are not pinched or restricted in the holder.
NOTE
To avoid crimping the lines inside the holder, do not twist the cartridge when sliding it into the holder. The lines are designed to coil neatly inside the holder.
- Unpack and install the new EGC vent tubing. Route it in the same manner as the old tubing was installed.
- Remove the plug from the Dionex EGC 500 vent opening.
- Install the EGC Vent Line Adaptor, Elbow (P/N 303057) in the vent opening of the Dionex EGC 500.
- Connect the new EGC vent line to the Vent Line Adaptor.
WARNING
Failure to remove the vent plug before beginning operation with the Dionex EGC 500 can lead to excessive buildup of electrolysis gas, which can result in a rupture or explosion of the EGC reservoir.
- Orient the connector on the black EGC Control Cable to the connector on the Dionex EGC 500 Inuvion IC System EGC connector to align the 4 pins. Push the connector into the EGC connector on the Dionex Inuvion IC System top cover. Twist the ring on the cable connector finger-tight to secure it.
