Before proceeding, verify that the following tasks have been completed:

Prerequisites

  1. The eluent bottle is filled.
  2. The eluent bottle cap is installed and hand-tightened.
  3. The liquid line from the pump to the bottle cap is connected.
  4. All waste lines are directed to a waste container.

Procedure

  1. Open the priming valve on the analytical pump head by turning the knob one-quarter to one-half turn counterclockwise.
  2. NOTE

Opening the priming valve directs the eluent flow path to waste and eliminates backpressure.

  3. On the Chromeleon CDS ePanel Set, select the Inuvion tab.
  4. Under Pump, select the Prime button (see the following image).
  5. When Chromeleon CDS displays a message reminding you that the priming valve is open, select OK (see the following image). The pump will begin pumping at about 3 mL/min.

  7. Monitor the pump waste line for air bubbles. When no air bubbles are visible in any tubing lines, turn off the pump priming and close the priming valve (see the following image).
  8. CAUTION

    Do not overtighten the valve.
