Temperature directly affects the conductivity of a solution. For example, laboratory heating and air conditioning systems can cause a slow, regular cycling in the baseline. This, in turn, can affect the reproducibility of an analysis. The higher the conductivity, the more pronounced the effect. To reduce temperature variation effects, the Dionex Inuvion IC System provides temperature control of the cell. A heater inside the cell regulates temperature, supporting values between 30—60°C. For optimum performance, set the temperature at least 7°C above the ambient temperature, and 5°C above the column oven temperature. For more information, see Conductivity cell.
