The high-pressure eluent generator produces high-purity acid, base, or carbonate/bicarbonate eluents online, using only deionized water as the carrier. The eluent generator consists of an eluent generator cartridge (Dionex EGC) for eluent generation, as well as a high-pressure degas tubing assembly for removal of the electrolysis gases created during eluent generation.

The eluent generator is standard with the Dionex Inuvion with RFIC system. For Dionex EGC hydration, installation, and removal instructions, see User maintenance.

The eluent generator consists of the following components:

  • A high-precision programmable current source (power supply). The appropriate power supply option depends on the number of electrolytic devices installed in the system. For example, three electrolytic power supplies are needed for a system with a suppressor, Dionex EGC, and Dionex CR-TC.
  • A disposable eluent generator cartridge (Dionex EGC) contains an electrolyte concentrate solution that is appropriate for the type of eluent being generated. The Dionex EGC must be ordered separately.
  • A Continuously Regenerated Trap Column (Dionex CR-TC) is used to remove any extraneous contaminants from the deionized water source. The Dionex CR-TC is electrolytically-regenerated, which allows it to operate for extended periods without chemical regeneration. The Dionex CR-TC must be ordered separately.
  • For carbonate/bicarbonate eluent, a Dionex EPM is required. The Dionex EPM produces a carbonate/bicarbonate mixture when installed with the Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ EGC 500 K2CO3. The Dionex EPM must be ordered separately.

NOTE

The waste, gas separator tube (P/N 045460) should be connected to the system waste line during installation.
