The vacuum degas assembly is a standard component for the Dionex Inuvion and Dionex Inuvion with RFIC systems.
NOTE
The Dionex Inuvion Core IC System does not include a vacuum degas assembly by default. In the field, the vacuum degas assembly can only be added to Dionex Inuvion Core IC Systems via a full configuration upgrade by Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineers.
The function of the vacuum degas assembly is to facilitate continuous degassing of the eluent while the pump is delivering eluent to the chromatographic system. Under default settings, the vacuum degas pump follows the analytical pump's operation mode. The vacuum level for the degas pump can be adjusted by the user as per the application requirement.
Degassing the eluent improves the quality of the obtained chromatogram by improving the stability of the baseline. Small gas bubbles present in the eluent create pressure drops as they pass through the high-pressure pump, resulting in uneven flow with high flow/noise ripples. The assembly, which must be installed in the system at the factory or on-site by Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineers, consists of:
- A single-channel degas chamber (with degas membranes) with an internal capacity of 500 μL and flow rate of up to 10 mL/min
- A dual-stage diaphragm vacuum pump
- An on-board vacuum sensor
- The electronics required to operate the vacuum pump
- Tubing, fittings, and other accessories
