A sequence determines how a group of injections is processed. The Injection list (see Injections) is the primary element of a sequence. This list groups injections in the order of processing and includes injection variables (name, type, and so on) that characterize each injection. Various data items can be included in a sequence.
You can create a sequence in the Chromeleon Console, from the injection queries, from LIMS worklists, or by using an eWorkflow (see Creating a sequence).
TIP
For more information about different options for creating sequences, refer to the Editing Sequences and Injection Lists: Create a Sequence topic in the Chromeleon 7 Help.
A sequence can only have one instance of the following types of data:
- Injection list: A group of injections that are analyzed in the order in which they are listed. A sequence can only have one injection list.
- Injection results: The chromatographic data acquired for each injection, as defined by the injection list.
- Assigned Instrument: Each injection can have a different instrument method, but only one instrument can be assigned to a sequence at a time.
- Electronic Report: The results of a sequence that are stored as an electronic printout copy associated with the sequence. The electronic report lets you sign the results of a sequence with an electronic signature.
A sequence can have multiple instances of the following types of data:
- Instrument method: The commands used to control an instrument when it acquires data.
- Processing method: The parameters used to evaluate the injection results.
- View settings: The settings used to display data in the Chromatography Studio.
- Report template: The template used to print injection results.
- Spectral library: A group of spectra used to identify unknown substances.
To create a sequence using the Sequence Wizard, follow these steps:
Procedure
- Under the Instruments category in the Chromeleon Console, select the instrument that you want to create a sequence for from the navigation pane.
- From the Create menu, select Sequence.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete each page of the Sequence Wizard, and then select Finish.
- Select the location for the new sequence, enter a name, and then select Save.
- The new sequence is displayed in the work area of the Chromeleon Console.
