CAUTION
The Chromeleon installation will fail on a PC where the name of the computer and the logged-in user are identical. The reason is a limitation in Microsoft™ SQL Server™ Express, which cannot install if the computer name and default username are the same.
Before the installation, make sure that the computer name and the name of the logged-in user are different.
If you accidently tried to install before changing the computer name, you must uninstall all the SQL components as follows:
Procedure
- Uninstall Chromeleon.
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Several entries for SQL Server are found.
- Uninstall all the SQL Server entries.
- Delete the /Program Data/Thermo/Chromeleon/ folder.
- Change the PC name to something other than the logged in user name.
- Reboot the PC.
- Start the installation process again.
