The following description is applicable to a PC with no version of Thermo Scientific™ DCMSLink™, Xcalibur, TraceFinder or any other Thermo Scientific MS software installed.

CAUTION

Make sure that the person performing the installation has local administrator privileges in Windows, otherwise the installation will fail.

NOTE

The Chromeleon setup cannot configure third-party firewalls. These must be configured manually.

Third-party firewalls may cause problems during the installation process. Make sure that third-party firewalls are turned off. It is recommended to leave the (built in) Windows Firewall on.

CAUTION

Make sure that there is enough free drive space on your PC. Otherwise, the installation will fail.

CAUTION

If you are asked to do so, reboot the computer. After the reboot, you must login as administrator to complete the installation process correctly.

TIP

The setup will attempt to configure the built-in Windows firewall. For this, the Windows Firewall service must be running. If you need to turn off the Windows Firewall for some reason, use the Windows Firewall Control Panel program (Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall), but leave the Windows Firewall service running.

CAUTION

Do not connect new instruments or modules through USB to your PC until the Chromeleon software installation has finished and the Chromeleon Installation Qualification (IQ) has been completed and passed.

TIP

Uninstalling previous versions of Chromeleon/PeakNet™ 6 is not required before installing Chromeleon 7.

NOTE

Setup time varies depending on the presence of third-party components. For example, installing .NET Framework libraries may take a considerable amount of time.

Thermo Scientific recommends closing all applications before starting the Chromeleon setup to ensure that it can update relevant system files.

Note that certain IT tools and anti-virus software may lock system files and therefore requires a reboot after the setup. In addition, installation of some of the integrated third-party components (such as the .NET Framework) usually requires a reboot.

CAUTION

Thermo Foundation includes services incompatible with Windows Terminal Server or Citrix environments

  • Do not install full versions of the MS drivers on any PC used as a remote client, Windows Terminal Server, or Citrix Server. The full version installation also requires you to install Thermo Foundation.
  • Installation of the client versions of the MS drivers into these environments is supported.

CAUTION

Do not use Windows Server based PCs as IPCs. The Foundation components have not been validated on Windows Server Operating Systems.
