During the installation of the BioPharma Finder application, two main software folders are created:
C:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\Databases
C:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\BioPharma
When you perform a manual backup of the application database and files, you create a manual copy of the Databases folder in an archive location on a different drive.
NOTE
Before you perform a manual backup of the BioPharma Finder database and files, you must close the application and stop the Thermo BioPharma Data Service in the Windows Services Manager if it is running.
Stop or start the Thermo BioPharma Data Service in the Windows Services Manager
Procedure
- On the Microsoft™ Windows™ 10 desktop, right-click the Start icon to open the WinX menu.
- Select Run.
- The Run dialog box opens.
- Enter
services.msc
in the Open box and then select OK. - The Windows Services Manager opens.
- Select the Extended tab.
- In the management console right pane, select Thermo BioPharma Data Service from the list.
- To stop or restart the data service, select the corresponding blue link in the upper left corner of the management console right pane.
Manually back up the BioPharma Finder application database and files
Procedure
- Exit the BioPharma Finder application.
- See Exit the application.
- In the Windows Services Manager, stop the Thermo BioPharma Data Service if it is running.
- Copy the
C:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\Databases
folder and paste it to an archive location on a different drive. - In the Windows Services Manager, restart the Thermo BioPharma Data Service.
Retrieve and add the backed-up BioPharma Finder application database and files
Procedure
- Exit the BioPharma Finder application.
- See Exit the application.
- (Optional) In the Windows Services Manager, stop the Thermo BioPharma Data Service if it is running.
- Delete the current
C:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific\Databases
folder. - Copy the Databases folder from the archive location and add it to the
C:\ProgramData\ThermoScientific
folder. - In the Windows Services Manager, restart the Thermo BioPharma Data Service.
