The following steps are needed to restore the Ardia server to its pre-upgrade working state. The steps cover restoring Ardia Ubuntu Linux OS with Kubernetes metadata and Ardia Platform database.

IMPORTANT

The OS restore process is destructive. It will overwrite all OS data with data from the backup. So, if any files were changed or added between the OS backup creation and the restore, these will be lost. This typically include upgrade logs, troubleshooting steps, and so on. Make sure to download any support logs from the failed upgrade prior the Ardia Server restore to 1.0.

 

Procedure

  1. Reboot the server (this can be done by executing the following command in Terminal: sudo reboot), or start the server if already shutdown.
  2. If the SecureBoot is enabled, turn it off in BIOS by selecting System Setup Main Menu > System BIOS > System Security.
  3. Alternatively, you can disable SecureBoot in iDRAC by selecting Configuration > BIOS settings > System Security.
  4. To apply the new setting, reboot the server.

  5. NOTE

    The Ardia Platform upgrade sets the SecureBoot setting in BIOS to True.

  6. Boot the server from ISO image Ardia Server Rescue Linux via iDRAC or from the prepared USB flash drive. Follow the same process as to create OS backup. See Create Ardia Server Ubuntu Linux OS backup
  7. The Firefox web browser with Ardia Platform Configurator (APC) tool will automatically load.
  8. Log in to the Ardia Platform Configurator.
  11. In Firefox, select OS restore in the left menu of APC.
  12. The last backup image is available to restore if present. If one is not present or a different image is required, then there is the option to upload an image including its xxHash checksum.
  13. Select Verify Checksum.
  16. Select Restore to start the OS restore from the OS backup file.
  20. Once completed, shutdown the server.
  21. Remove any attached USB flash drive from server.
  22. Power on the server and ensure the SecureBoot is set to original value prior to the Ardia Platform upgrade (defaults to false).
  23.
