An Ardia administrator can assign roles, users, and privileges using the Users and Roles application.

The first user comes preconfigured with the default Ardia platform installation. This user is automatically granted the super administrator role, which allows them to access the full scope of the Ardia platform.

When a new role is created, it does not have any privileges enabled by default. An administrator can upgrade the role as needed.

Term

Description

Role

Refers to a set of privileges that defines the actions that a user with that role can perform within the Ardia platform. Roles are assigned based on user responsibilities and job functions.

User

Refers to an individual who is assigned a specific role within the Ardia platform. This role determines the user's level of access and privileges within the platform.

Privileges

Refer to the actions or functionality that a user with a specific role can perform within the Ardia platform. Each role has its own set of privileges, which can be assigned or removed as needed by an administrator. The Ardia platform has two sets of privileges:

  • Ardia Core
  • NOTE

To avoid accidentally restricting the assignment of roles and users, the following two Ardia Core privileges cannot be disabled for a role: Open Users and Roles Application and Assign Privileges. An exception to this rule is when there is a user whose role has both of these privileges. At least one user must be assigned a role with both of these privileges enabled.
