Ardia Core applications

Ardia Core applications are part of the Ardia Platform and include the Data Explorer, Data Viewer, Instruments and Data Insights. They can interact with each other and share capabilities, such as user interface, identity, notifications, and auditing.

Ardia Data Explorer

Core application on the Ardia Platform that lets users browse and manage folders, files, and data objects that are stored in the Ardia Repository. It also lets users download sequences, documents, and composite documents from the Ardia Repository.

Ardia Instruments application

A core application on the Ardia Platform that provides users with centralized lab management features for monitoring and scheduling instruments, maintaining instrument logbooks, and requesting support. This application presents real-time statuses and data acquisition information for connected systems.

Ardia Platform Home page

First page displayed upon signing into the Ardia Platform. It serves as an application dashboard, where users can view application cards grouped into categories of Core Applications, Utilities, and External Software.

Ardia Repository

Digital storage space that is accessible from Ardia applications, including Data Explorer and Data Viewer, as well as connected external software such as the Chromeleon CDS and the BioPharma Finder software. It serves as a platform for accessing, sharing, and managing folders, sequences, files, and data objects stored within the Ardia Repository.

Ardia Server

Dedicated on-premise hardware on which the Thermo Scientific Ardia Platform is deployed.

Ardia workspace

Virtual environment that lets users access Ardia services and applications through a web browser. It simplifies the process of managing data, applications, and instruments, as well as facilitates real-time collaboration with other Ardia users in a secure and centralized location.

Audit Trail Viewer

Utility on the Ardia Platform that automatically generates entries when users perform specific actions on the platform. This utility lets users create queries to filter entries based on specific types and save them for future use.

autosampler

A device that automatically loads collected samples (as for spectroscopic or chromatographic analysis) into a laboratory instrument.

Chromeleon Chromatography Data System (Chromeleon CDS)

Chromatography data system that provides complete instrument control, data acquisition, and data management.

Client Registration and Management

Utility on the Ardia Platform that lets users create and manage application registration codes. These codes are used to connect Ardia-ready external software to the Ardia Platform.

Compound Discoverer software

A qualitative data-processing software that uses accurate mass data, isotope pattern matching, fragment matching, and mass spectral library searches to identify the structure of small molecules.

custom instruments

Instruments that are manually added to the Scheduler (Ardia Instruments application) for reservation purposes.

Data Insights

Core application on the Ardia Platform that serves as a central location for information on the availabilities, statuses and performance of laboratory resources in form of dashboards.

data type

Data that is stored in a file in the Ardia Repository, such as a text document, image, result, or raw data.

Data Viewer

Core application on the Ardia Platform that lets users visualize and analyze chromatography and mass spectrometry data. It facilitates displaying chromatograms and spectra, navigating scans, creating extracted ion chromatograms, and viewing data from multiple detectors and raw data files.

domain controller

A Chromeleon station where the central Discovery Service is running. Other Chromeleon stations in the Chromeleon domain use the Chromeleon domain controller as a central source of information about the available Chromeleon resources.

Fully-Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)

The address of an internet host or computer consisting of the hostname and domain name to provide the exact location within the domain name system (DNS).

Global Settings

Utility on the Ardia Platform that lets administrators configure administrative settings for the Ardia Platform and the Ardia Instruments application. It also helps establish password policies for the Ardia IdP.

group reservation

A type of reservation that lets you reserve more than one instrument in the Scheduler.

identity provider (IdP)

A trusted entity that verifies user identities and issues authentication tokens or credentials to access protected resources. In the Ardia Platform, an identity provider is used to authenticate Ardia users and grant them access to various Ardia applications and utilities through single sign-on (SSO).

IdP Configuration

Utility on the Ardia Platform that lets administrators configure, edit, and remove IdPs used by the Ardia Platform.

injection

Data collected from a scientific instrument. Users can access injections from the Ardia Repository, which are collected through the Xcalibur™ data system or the Chromeleon™ Chromatography Data System (CDS).

instrument reservation

Also called a reservation, this refers to the reserving or booking of a specific laboratory instrument or equipment for a designated period.

License Management

Utility that allows users to add and manage licenses for applications across the Ardia Platform.

Live

The status of an item in the Ardia Repository that indicates that the item is online and available for use and modification.

Live Archive Incomplete

The status of an item in the Ardia Repository that indicates a failed attempt to archive the item. Despite the failure, the item remains in the Live status.

Live Archive Locked

The status of an item in the Ardia Repository that indicates that the item is locked because one of its child item is archived. In this state, the item cannot be renamed, moved, deleted, or modified, except for adding children.

Multi-Attribute Method (MAM)

A workflow that simplifies the characterization and monitoring of product quality attributes of biopharmaceutical products at the peptide level.

Proteome Discoverer (PD)

Software that simplifies the identification and quantification of proteins in complex biological samples.

raw data

Uncorrected liquid chromatograph and mass spectrometer data obtained during an acquisition. Xcalibur and Xcalibur-based software store this data in a file that has a .raw file extension.

A page in the Ardia Instruments application that displays the instruments and a reservation calendar that lists the availability of the instruments.

sequence

A collection of Injections that will be or has been analyzed in a sequential order. A sequence also contains all the associated items that are necessary to run, process, and report the injections.

Simple Mail Transfer (or Transport) Protocol (SMTP)

A standard for the transmission of email on a computer network.

Skyline software

Skyline is Windows-based, open-source software for developing and analyzing mass spectrometry methods. It also enables the creation and iterative refinement of targeted methods for large-scale proteomics studies.

system

A term used in the context of the Ardia Instruments application that refers to either a standalone instrument (for example, an MS, LC, or IC) or an integrated instrument (for example, an LC/MS, GC/MS or IC/MS) that has been configured in the acquisition software that is connected to the Ardia Platform.

Thermo Scientific BioPharma Finder

Software that provides comprehensive, automated data-processing workflows for the characterization of biologics, including peptide mapping and oligonucleotide analysis, HCP quantitation, proteoform characterization using top- and middle-down analysis, intact mass measurements, and the multi-attribute method (MAM) development for non-QC applications.

Thermo Scientific Xcalibur software

Software that can be used to manage a compatible mass spectrometer to acquire data on small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides. It helps create instrument methods and operating parameters for GC, LC, GC-MS, or LC-MS systems. Additionally, it acquires data for specific analytes, performs confirmatory library searches, and determines analyte concentrations. The reporting package generates individual sample and sequence summary reports for analysis.

Users and Roles

Utility on the Ardia Platform that lets administrators add new users to the Ardia Platform and manage the access levels of existing ones. Administrators manage users' access by defining their roles and privileges, which can be customized to meet the specific requirements of different users.

Refers to the integral components or tools of the Ardia Core software, which includes Audit Configuration, License Management, and Users and Roles.
