In the Data Explorer application, you can rename a folder, sequence, document, or composite document.

Prerequisites

  1. Your role must have the required Ardia Core permission to open the Data Explorer application. For more information, see Edit Ardia Core privileges for a role.
  2. You must have Can Edit permission (or a higher permission) for a folder to rename its contents. For more information, see Manage folder access.

Procedure

  1. Open the Data Explorer application.
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the item that you want to rename.
  3. In the content area, do one of the following:
  4. Select the item and then select Rename on the command bar.
  5. Select on the item's row and then select Rename.
  6. Right-click the item's row and then select Rename.
  7. The name of the item is editable.
  8. NOTE

    You can rename only one item at a time. If you select more than one item, the Rename command is disabled.

  9. NOTE

    The Rename command is available when you select a folder, sequence, document, or a composite document that has one of these statuses: Live or Live Archive Incomplete.

    You cannot rename an injection (for example, a raw data file), synchronized folder, or synchronized sequence within the Data Explorer application. If you select these items, the Rename command is disabled.

  10. Enter a new name in the Name box.
  11. NOTE

    If you enter any of the special characters \ > / < | * : ' " in the Name box, the application does not allow you to enter it and displays an error message.

  12. Press ENTER.
  13. NOTE

    If an item of the same type and with the same name that you entered already exists in this location, the application displays an error message and automatically reverts the folder name back to the previous name.

  14. If there is no error, the Add a Comment dialog box opens.
  15. Enter your comment and then select Save.
  16. NOTE

    The Add a Comment dialog box opens only if the Prompt for Comments When Saving toggle is turned on in the Global Settings (according to the audit policy in your organization). See Configure global settings for the Ardia Platform.

    The comment that you enter is added to the Comment column of the Audit Trail Viewer. See Open the Audit Trail Viewer.

  17. A message confirming the successful update is displayed.
