In the Data Explorer application, you can create folders to organize the data.

Prerequisites

  1. Your role must have the required Ardia Core permission to open the Data Explorer application. For more information, see Edit Ardia Core privileges for a role.
  2. You must have the Can Edit permission (or a higher permission) for the folder in which you want to create a new folder. For more information, see Manage folder access.

Procedure

  1. Open the Data Explorer application.
  2. Navigate to the folder in which you want to create a new folder.
  3. Select New Folder in the upper-right corner of the page.
  4. NOTE

Apart from the Ardia Repository root folder, the New Folder button is available only in folders that are outside of synchronized folders or in folders that have one of these statuses: Live, Live Archive Locked, or Live Archive Incomplete.

  5. A new row appears with the default folder name New Folder.
  6. NOTE

If a folder with the default name already exists in the location, the application adds a number to the default name. Example: New folder 1, then New folder 2, and so on.

  7. (Optional) To change the name of the folder, enter a new name for the folder in the Name box.
  8. NOTE

You cannot enter the \ > / < | * : ' " special characters in the Name box. If you try to, the application displays an error message.

  9. Press ENTER.
  10. NOTE

If an existing folder in this location already has the name that you enter, the application displays an error message and automatically reverts the folder name back to the previous name.

  11. If there is no error, the Add a Comment dialog box opens.
  12. Enter your comment and then select Save.
  13. NOTE

The Add a Comment dialog box opens only if the Prompt for Comments When Saving toggle is turned on in the Global Settings (according to the audit policy in your organization). See Configure global settings for the Ardia Platform.

The comment that you enter is added to the Comment column of the Audit Trail Viewer. See Open the Audit Trail Viewer.

  14. The application adds a new folder to the Ardia Repository.
