The needle wash solutions are used to clean the fluidic path of the instrument. The fluidic path of the instrument includes the parts of the instrument that are used to move the reagents and samples around and come into contact with them. Cleaning the fluidic path regularly prevents contamination of the samples.
The bottles for the needle wash solutions are provided in the box containing the accessories shipped with the instrument. Two one-liter bottles are used in the AccelerOme instrument.
The AcclerOme system uses two needle wash solutions:
- W1: Aqueous Instrument Wash Solution Composition
- W2: Organic Instrument Wash Solution Composition
Solution composition | Catalog number |
---|---|
Needle Wash Solution W1 – 0.1% formic acid in water, LC-MS grade (for example, Water with 0.1% Formic Acid (v/v), Optima™ LC/MS Grade) |
Catalog Number LS118-212 |
Needle Wash Solution W2 – 50% methanol and 0.05% formic acid in water, LC-MS grade (for example, 1:1 v/v mix of needle wash solution W1 and Optima™ LC/MS Grade methanol) |
Catalog Number A456-1 |
Steps
- Pour 1 liter of the aqueous needle wash solution into a clean 1-liter bottle.
- Label the aqueous needle wash solution bottle as W1.
- Open the door to the solution compartment and place the bottle on the lower shelf while inserting the tubing labeled W1 and the inlet filter into the bottle.
- The solution compartment is on the left side of the instrument. The solution tubes and inlet filters are already present in the solution compartment.
- Pour 1 liter of the organic needle wash solution into a clean 1-liter bottle.
- Label the organic needle wash solution bottle as W2.
- Verify that the needle wash solution levels in the bottle are correct. Both bottles must contain at least 250 mL of the respective wash solutions before each run.
- Open the door to the solution compartment and place the second bottle on the lower shelf while inserting the W2 labeled tubing and the inlet filter into the bottle.
NOTE
Do not mix old and new solutions. Organic solutions can evaporate over time, leading to a possible degradation of performance.
- Close the door of the solution compartment.
CAUTION
Eye Hazard
Do not place filled solution bottles on top of the instrument. If they fall off and make physical contact, it can cause partial loss of vision.
NOTE
Use Corning® PYREX® or equivalent glassware for all glass containers used in the instrument.
